Controller/CFO – Professional Service Firm – Base 120K plus potential for 50% bonus

Location : Silver Spring, MD

International Professional Service Firm is in need of a Controller/CFO to take complete control of their Accounting and Finance Department. Position will report directly to the President/CEO who started in this position 20 years ago. Current President would like nothing more than to hire someone who is ambitious and after gaining control of the Finance & Accounting Department will desire to move into operations.. Base pay begins at 120K with potential for bonus of additional 50%.

Responsibilities:
  • General Ledger maintenance
  • Monthly financial reporting to ownership group
  • Coordination of Annual Review by Independent Accountants
  • Year end Financial reporting and Analysis for year end Shareholder’s meeting
  • Oversight of Independent Accountant’s preparation of Federal and State Tax Returns
  • Preparation of monthly and annual  Cash Flow and Profitability Projections
  • Negotiations and Management of leases for office space, equipment and software
  • Management, collection and analysis of data for Job Costing
  • Oversight of Billings, A/R, A/P
  • Supervision of Time card reporting, payroll and monthly billing

After demonstrating the ability to handle the “Controller” function, the individual will then have the ability to become TG’s Chief Financial Officer. These duties will include but not limited to:

  • Assisting in fee development
  • Establishing new offices
  • Contributing to Strategic Planning and Firm Growth opportunities
  • Exploring additional business opportunities including domestic and foreign
  • Negotiating fees with clients and consultants
  • Teaching project management skills to Architects
Qualifications & Experience:
  • 15+ years proven experience in controllership, financial management and project management
  • Experience in “professional service” firms is a must. Exposure to an architect and/or Engineering firm is a plus
  • Ability to grow into a Strategic Leader with vision, but competent to be detailed oriented, hands on Controller.
  • Posses the ability to develop and maintain corporate procedures in all areas of responsibility
  • Must be dedicated professional. This is more than  a 40 Hr/week position
  • As growth dictates, hire and train staff
  • Degree in Accounting, CPA and/or MBA is a plus
